Abstract
The aim of this presentation is to give a short overview of the city of Augsburg and the academic institutions University Augsburg and Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, respectively. Especially the focus lays on the University of Applied Sciences and its Faculty of Electrical Engineering including its research areas.
 
In a second step, an introduction in the research fields related with the sustainable energy supply of the faculty are presented. This will primarily be the work field of Michael WIEST, which is the planning and operation of distribution grids.
 
Mr. Michael Wiest was born in Krumbach, Germany, on March 17, 1985. He studied Electrical Engineering and graduated with the degree of Dipl.-Ing.(FH) (Engineering Diploma) at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in 2009. Until 2011 he studied at the TechnischeUniversitätMünchen, Institute for High Voltage Technology and Power Transmission and graduated with the Master’s degree M.Sc. Since 2011 he works at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in Cooperation with the TechnischeUniversitätBraunschweig as a scientific associate. His research focus lays on sustainable planning and operation of power distribution grids.
